GOLDEN NINEBARK Physocarpus opulifolius 'Luteus' The Golden Ninebark is a large shrub which is adapted to most situations. Its golden foliage is of interest all summer long. It has thin golden brown bark which tends to peal in sheets. Flowering Shrub: Height to 10 feet. It forms a dense crown which effectively suppresses weed growth. Foliage: Yellow green, three lobed, deeply ribbed. Flowers: Buds are bright pink but the flowers are showy white panicles. Fruit: Dry capsules that turn red and are easily as attractive as the flowers. Comments: Makes a great filler shrub. Worthy of more common use. Ideal for the off corner of the front yard. | |||||||||
