FOFONOFF (HOMESTEADER) PLUM
Prunus salicina 'Fofonoff'
Fruit: -4 cm (1.5 in.), round;
-matures in mid August;
-flesh is light green, very firm, very juicy, very sweet;
-freestone;
-skin is lime green overlaid with red and having a pink bloom, thin and
tender;
-very good for fresh eating;
-poor for canning but good for jam.
Pollination: Plant with other Asian plums such as Ivanovka, Ptitsin, or Brookgold. There are probably other good pollinizers but they have not been adequately investigated.
Tree: Tree is round with wide angled branches, moderately vigorous.
Hardy: To zone 2a.
