CONVOY CHERRY PLUM
Prunus americana x P. besseyi 'Convoy'
Fruit: -3 cm (1 in.), round;
-matures in late August, early September;
-flesh is yellow, very juicy, mild, and sweet;
-clingstone;
-skin is bright scarlet red, thin, somewhat sour and
astringent;
-fair for fresh eating;
-good for canning.
Pollination: Plant with other cherry plums such as Manor, Opata, and Beta or Western Sandcherry.
Tree: Vigorous and narrowly upright.
Hardy: To zone 2a.
Comments: Introduced by Boughen Nurseries at Valley River, Manitoba.
