VIRGINIA CREEPER Parthenocissus quinquefolia Virginia Creeper is a climbing vine which is great on trellises, fences, sheds, and even on large trees. It is one of our regions most reliable climbers. In bright sun, the fall colour is outstanding. Woody Vine: Can easily climb two stories by tendrils which attach to anything available. Sometimes uses as spreading groundcover as well. Foliage: Course textured leaves are palmate compound—five leaflets in a star configuration. Fruit: Bluish black berries that are not very conspicuous but the birds can find them. Fall Colour: Outstanding. Orange to blood red—especially when grown in full sun. Comments: Needs to be in a spot with some air movement. Great foliage plant for yards with limited space. | |||||||||
