SIBERIAN FLOWERING CRAB Malus baccata
The Siberian Flowering Crab is a very hardy small white flowering tree that is easily grown from seed. Although its fruit is of no value, it is in the lineage of most prairie hardy apples and crab apples.
Small tree: Height 5m (17ft).
Foliage: Green.
Flowers: White and very showy.
Fruit: Small berry like with a deciduous calyx.
Comments: This small tree grows naturally into a ball shaped crown with can be spectacular in spring bloom. Like all apples, it is susceptible to fire blight.
