TARTARIAN MAPLE Acer Although this small tree may not be quite as tough as the Amur maple it is a little larger, of somewhat fuller canopy, and perhaps even better fall colour. Small tree: Height 5m (16ft). Foliage: Leaves are ovate. Do not have the delicate texture of Amur maple leaves. Flowers: Not conspicuous but fragrant. Fruit: Bright red and showy in late summer. Fall Colour: Very showy. Ranges from orange red to blood red. Colours up best if grown in full sun. Comments: Prefers deep rich soil. An exciting fall feature in any yard or garden. Because this tree readily hybridizes with the Amur Maple, there are many intermediate forms which are hard to distinguish. PLANT FINDER SMALL TREE INDEX HOME
