RUSSIAN FLOWERING ALMOND Prunus tenella The Russian Flowering Almond is a great filler in places where its suckering habit is not objectionable. It is one of the very first plants to flower in the spring--just as the leaves a starting to develop. Flowering Shrub: Height 1m (3ft). Forms a dense thicket which is not at all aggressive. Foliage: Linear green leaves. Flowers: Very profuse, deep pink flowers are born early in the spring. Fruit: Almond shaped seed with a hairy husk. Fall Colour: Copper. Comments: Drought resistant. Frequently does well where other plants have failed. | |||||||||
