RED OSIER DOGWOOD Cornus sericea The Red Osier Dogwood is native in our area. It does best in moist habitats. Although it is quite shade tolerant it does best in full sun. Shrub: Height to 2 to 3 m (6 to 9 ft.) with loose arching branches. Foliage: Course textured and green; colouring up nicely to red in the fall. Flowers: Small white flowers which are born in good sized clusters which are quite showy. Fruit: A small white berry that frequently has a blue tinge. Comments: This is a great filler plant that performs well as under story to larger trees. The dull red bark adds interest to the winter landscape. | |||||||||
