The familiar Saskatoon Berry! Tall upright spreading shrub known for its flowering habit and unique fruit. Great for out of hand eating, pies, and preserves.
Large Shrub: Height 3m (10ft).
Foliage: Dark green; usually somewhat open canopy.
Flowers: Showy white flowers. In the wild, this is the first common plant to flower.
Fruit: Fruit it unusually sweet but mild flavoured.
Comments: Thrives in almost any well drained soil. Because the 'Smokey' suckers freely, it often becomes quite bushy. The commercial fruit processors like Smokey because its flavour is more intense than other cultivars.
