Ivanovka Plum
Prunus salicina 'Ivanovka'
Fruit:
-3.5 to 4 cm, round;
-matures in early September;
-flesh is orange or pink, firm, juicy, sweet, and aromatic;
-semi-freestone;
-skin is yellow overlaid with deep red; has a bluish bloom; thin;
-excellent for fresh eating;
-very good for canning;
-good for jam and good for pies.
Pollination: Plant with other Asian plums such as Brookgold, Ptitsin, or Fofonoff. There are probably other good pollinizers but they have not been adequately investigated.
Tree: Moderately vigorous, broadly upright, with drooping leaves.
Hardy: To zone 2a.
Comments: Introduced by Agriculture Canada out of Morden, Manitoba in 1939. One of the standards by which the large hardy plums are measured.
