Brookred Plum
Prunus salicina 'Brookred'
(Possibly a hybrid)
Fruit:
-4 to 5 cm, round;
-matures in late August;
-flesh is pale orange, firm, and sweet;
-freestone;
-skin is dark red, thick, and sour but not astringent;
-very good for fresh eating;
-excellent for jam;
-poor for canning.
Pollination: There is considerable confusion about Hybrid plum requirements but it is known that the native Canada Plum is an effective pollinizer.

Highly recommended as one of the better large dessert plums. Very hardy.
