Brookred Plum
Prunus salicina 'Brookred'
(Possibly a hybrid)

Fruit: -4 to 5 cm, round;
-matures in late August;
-flesh is pale orange, firm, and sweet;
-freestone;
-skin is dark red, thick, and sour but not astringent;
-very good for fresh eating;
-excellent for jam;
-poor for canning.

Pollination: There is considerable confusion about Hybrid plum requirements but it is known that the native Canada Plum is an effective pollinizer.

Tree: Vigorous, upright, and spreading.

Hardy: To zone 2b.

Comments: Highly recommended as one of the better large dessert plums. Very hardy.
