The Thomas Pear is the most highly recommended of all the eating pears for Saskatchewan. Both the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Agriculture pick this as the best eating pear for our region.
Medium Tree: Fast growing round headed tree to 6m (20 ft) height.
Foliage: Course Texture, dark green foliage.
Flowers: White, very profuse and showy.
Fruit: A round pear which is good for fresh eating, jams, and jellies.
Comments: Although pear trees take somewhat longer to produce fruit than apples, they can be very rewarding. A truly unique addition for any garden.
