GOLDEN WILLOW Salix alba 'Vitellina' Whether single or multi-stemmed, the Golden Willow is a very fast growing shade tree that is valued for its bright golden bark and bright yellowish spring colour. Its crown tends to be very broad and spreading. Shade tree: Height 20m (65ft). Foliage: From a distance, this tree is almost yellow in the spring becoming green by early summer. Fall Colour: Yellow. Comments: Very fast growing. The Golden Willow requires a lot of room. If allowed to develop naturally, it will be as wide as it is tall. When young the Golden Willow is quite susceptible to sun scald. However, its quick growth and unique colour frequently make it the specimen of choice in a new landscape. | |||||||||
