Fruit: -Up to 2 inches;
-green washed with red;
-flesh is course, soft, with a pleasant unique flavour;
-good for cooking, excellent for fresh eating;
-doesn't store well;
-ripens in August.

Tree: Small spreading tree.

Comments: Requires a protected site and is subject to fire blight. Tends to have trunk problems as it ages. My parents had this variety and it remains my favourite in spite of its faults. Its flavour is like none other.
